Import Region Mapping automatically?

Is it possible to import the region mapping via the Import functionality?
The entity is not available in the Excel template for reference data nor can it be found as a source category under the import via Power Query Connector option.

Thank you.

I have the same question (0)

Soo, that is indeed not possible today. But I am curious why and how you plan to use this data?
We've sort of been thinking of removing it completely, since we now have the more flexible Country/Region setup.

Can you explain your plans for this?

    Hi Ivan,

We intended to use it as it is described in MSFT documentation: A region mapping makes reporting and analysis more flexible.
It would be, sort of, an additional attribute to the country dimension, making it possible to report emissions etc. on a higher level than country.

Can you elaborate on how the country/region setup could be used to realize a similar solution?

    Thanks.

Could you follow up on this topic?

So I was thinking of "Geographical area" which was in combination with the new country/region table allow for a very flexible way of configuring regions / areas / countries / etc in a hierarchy.
However looks like that part of this feature was delayed for other priorities.

We however also don't really have the intention of improving this legacy one. So I guess just add them manually or through power automate or similar for now

Let me recap your answer to make sure I fully understood.. Can you please confirm correctness?

There will be a new feature allowing to link the country/region table to the geography area table. This will allow for a flexible way to group country/regions in a hierarchical fashion. This functionality will replace the region mapping in the company profile.

The geography area and geography area type table are already available, however the link tot the country/region table is not yet released.

Any indication on timeline? I'm not finding it in the 'What's new and planned' of the release waves..

    Thanks.

Unfortunately timelines are uncertain at this point.
I would not expect it in the next 6 months

Yes. We have Country/Region, Geographic Area, Geographic Area Type.
What we're missing is "Related Geographic Area" which is used to relate a geo area to various different entities or itself to create a hierarchy in a temporal manner (meaning, it'll have dates to make the relationship effective only for a particular period, for example). It'd support types of relationships like "Contains", "Is part of", "Borders", "Overlaps", etc.
