PM Trx accidentally posted to GL with batch date

Hi all,

I have a situation where some batches of PM transactions were posted, and the posting setup was set to take the batch date rather than the transaction date.  The resulting GL transactions are still unposted as a GL batch.  Is there an easy way to change the GL dates of these entries to match the original document date in PM?

UPDATE for anyone who may later be in this situation:

Since my SQL skills are limited, I used smartlists of the GL and PM Trxs and then Vlookups to get the PM Doc date and GL info in one Excel sheet.  I then imported this into SQL as a table and wrote a simple update statement against the GL10000 table to change the TrxDate of any journal entries that required it.   As Harry and Richard said, the data is in SQL, and the correct JOIN statements probably could have done this easier and without needing Excel smartlists.

There are quite a few in this case.  Any idea what the sql script should look like?  What is the common field that links the trx in the GL10000 with PM20000 tables?

How many transactions are there in this GL batch? If it just a few, I would manually change the dates. If there are many you will need to go into SSMS and create a script to update the GL10000 with dates from the PM20000 table.

The PM20000 table and the GL10000 table house these transactions, but there doesn't seem to be a simple way to link these transactions to make such a change.

I'm sorry, I should mention that there are 1000 transactions that may need to be changed.  So I was hoping to see if the originating document date is stored in the open GL table and could be changed by code rather than by hand.

You should be able to open Financial > Transactions > Batches, then look up the batch in question.  Select the Transactions button, then browse through the transactions at set the Transaction dates to the required date.  Major Caveat - your PM sub-ledger will not tie to your GL...  This will be especially problematic if any of your transaction dates crossed over into another period because of the setting.
